Meal Delivery -  DC Department of Aging and Community Living

DACL delivers prepared meals to adults 60 years of age or older at their homes throughout the city. The spouses of homebound adults or disabled persons who reside with these homebound adults may also be eligible to receive these meals.

Mobility Equipment 

DC Shares, a durable medical equipment recycling program, offers free mobility equipment for qualifying DC residents in need of equipment to assist with their daily mobility needs. The program both provides and accepts used mobility equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes, etc. DC Shares is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Proof of DC residency is required at the time of pick up. Curbside pickup or drop off by appointment only.  Please contact DC Shares for more information to see if you qualify.

Winter Ready DC - Free Weatherization Kits
 

Typical weatherization measures may include insulation, duct sealing, heating, and cooling systems repairs or replacement, air infiltration mitigation, and installing ENERGY STAR lighting and appliances.

Eligibility for WAP is verified by DOEE’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Once you apply for LIHEAP and indicate your interest in WAP, a DOEE representative will contact you for the next steps.
